This piece was created to show off a slightly edgier side of my work - I spent a lot of time during A-level exploring darker themes within my art. Having an interest in tattooing on top of this, I see two sides within my style of creating.
I created this piece digitally with textured brushes, blocking in basic shapes and shadows before detailing further, imitating realism but without being too precious. I then added some graphic shapes and finally some text, which I felt added visual interest. I finished by using a digital paper texture over the top to add more of a traditional quality. The pops of red come from the underpainting, which I feel contrast well with the dog and opposing blue.
Exploring textiles further in my craft, I printed the piece out and glued on different tubular beads, before scanning it back in and cutting the beads and shadows out and adding them back to the digitized version, which meant I was able to preserve quality.
Moving forward, I would love to create posters in this sort of style.
