This piece was created to explore more of a narrative, but also to further test my use of color and composition.
I created this piece digitally with textured brushes, initially working on the background with darker but vibrant hues and a magenta underpainting. After blocking in the scene, I added detail and some drawn shapes in my usual style, before adding the two bear characters. I finished by using a digital paper texture over the top to add more of a traditional quality.
Exploring textiles further in my craft, I printed the piece out and glued on different tubular beads, before scanning it back in and cutting the beads and shadows out and adding them back to the digitized version, which meant I was able to preserve quality.
This piece shows potential as a children's book cover.
